Culina Millcreek

I wanted to plan a fun date night for my boyfriend and I, so decided to try out Culina Millcreek. I had heard great things – and thankfully it didn’t disappoint!

The restaurant is tucked in behind Wild Earth Bakery, right next to Route 99 Diner.

We arrived at 6:00. Most of the tables were full and we got seated by a window. The restaurant has a cool, eclectic vibe. The walls are painted black and most of the light in the room is from little lights on each table. The space itself is pretty small, so I would advise making a reservation before checking it out.

Our server was really friendly, attentive and informative. She answered all of our questions and accommodated all of  our requests.

To start, we chose to share one of their featured selections.

Featured appetizer – $14

This.was.so.tasty. The beef was served with mustard, a variety of pickled veggies and topped with fresh arugula. I felt as though I could have almost had this as my main course.

Pork “Como con Leche” – $26

I ordered the Pork “Como con Leche” as my entree. I’m a sucker for anything with bacon in it. The pork was topped with pickled carrots and red onions and crispy bacon on top of fresh beans. The meat was tender and flavorful, and was especially delicious coupled with the pickled veggies.

My dinner date opted for the Grilled Steak  & Braised Beef.

Grilled Steak and Braised Beef – $27

The beef was served with a red wine/chocolate sauce and a blue cheese cream sauce. As a non blue cheese lover, my date was a bit skeptical about ordering this particular dish. However, our server assured us that the blue cheese sauce complimented the dish wonderfully and offered to serve the sauce on the side. Turns out this was unnecessary, because just like our server told us, the two sauces paired together created a really great combination. The beef was served on top of potato hash.

For dessert, we couldn’t resist trying out the baked chocolate pudding, which I loved.

Baked Chocolate Pudding – $8

The dessert was served warm, topped with a whipped vanilla cream cheese frosting and salted pepita brittle. A perfect end to a great meal.

Overall, I really liked Culina. The service and the food was fantastic. This is a new addition on my ‘go-to’ restaurant list.
